Vigil at National Cattle Congress
WATERLOO --- A group of 50 or more people are gathered outside the gates of National Cattle Congress tonight in a peaceful vigil on behalf of those people detained at the Agriprocessors Inc. meat processing plant in Postville earlier in the day.
Federal immigration officials are holding the male detainees on the grounds of National Cattle Congress in Waterloo, which the federal government has rented for the entire month of May. Female detainees have been taken to jails.
A group from El Centro, area churches and others are gathered outside the gates.
