Below you can explore some of the more noteworthy materials that are a part of The Postville Project that specifically document events in the Postville community and the events surrounding the immigration raid. To see all of the materials that are part of the project, click on the "Collections" tab above, which will guide you to a complete listing of the collections in the project.Â

This photograph is part of the Taste of Postville collection that documents the annual Taste of Postville event that took place in the town from 1998 to 2006. The Taste of Postville celebrated the diversity of cultures within the community with a multicultural parade, ethnic food booths, ethnic music and street dancing. This photograph shows two Filipina women and one American woman preparing traditional Filipino food for the event at St. Bridget's Catholic Church in Postville.

Another item from the Taste of Postville collection, this photograph shows a group of Hasidic Jewish boys participating in the street dancing event during the 1998 Taste of Postville event. Hasidic, orthodox jews moved into the Postville area in the late 1980's in response to the opening of the Agriprocessors meatpacking plant, one of the largest Kosher meatpacking plants in the world.

A photograph from the Julie Berg-Raymond collection from the Interfaith Prayer Service and Rally, held in July 2008, about one month after the immigration raid. Individuals and religious leaders from all over the country came to show support for the Postville community and the workers and their families who were detained in the raid.Â

A flyer from the Liz Rog collection, this event was organized to commemorate the one year anniversary of the Postville immigration raid. The one year anniversary event included a prayer vigil at St. Bridget's Catholic Church and a solidarity walk to the Agriprocessors plant.Â

A part of the Julie Berg-Raymond collection, this photograph shows important city and religious leaders attending a press conference for the one year anniversary of the Postville raid. Participants included Pastor Steve Brackett of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Postville, Jewish city council member Aaron Goldsmith, school principal Chad Wahls, Sister Mary McCauley of St. Bridget's Catholic Church and Postville Response Coalition coordinator Maryn Olson.Â

During the Five Year Anniversary interfaith prayer service at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Cedar Rapids, Rabbi Morris Allen offered his words of reflection on the importance of reconciliation and comprehensive immigration reform.Â

Hundreds of people gathered for the event, which included speakers, a letter signing campaign to Senator Grassley requesting comprehensive immigration reform, singing, a march from the federal courthouse to the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church and an interfaith prayer service at the church.
